I LOVE C&B!

I'm quite surprised at the reviews I am seeing on this site. I haven't ordered furniture from C&B in a few years but I do order a lot of decor online as unfortunately I no longer live near a store. I have never had any issues with their products, delivery or service. My furniture has held up very well, the quality of their merchandise is terrific and I especially love that it's not like everything else you see out there.

Failure to communicate

Placed an order $280 plus, on April 20th. Credit card was charged on April 21st. We have received two emails from C&B. One confirming our purchase of the items one day after placing the order. (all items were showing in stock). A second email arrived 7 days later with the headline "We're almost there" and the link takes you into an order # and email input screen, once you provide the details it states "Preparing to Ship" It is now 14 days later, no further communication, a busy signal when you call their 800 number, so forget trying to talk to a live body. The link from the second email still says "Preparing to Ship". The first tenet and lesson of customer service is to "under promise and over deliver". Crate & Barrel, and their leadership must have skipped class that day.Update: We were finally able to get through on the tool free customer service line. We had leave our name and number, however several hours later a very kind customer service individual returned our call. They checked into the order, made a request to the distribution facility, and we were advised it would ship and received confirmation the next day. The items arrived today, 5-7, packed perfectly, and nothing (dishes) were damaged in shipping. Kudos to C&B customer service for calling back, being proactive in requesting our order be shipped, and to those who packed it for doing an excellent job.

The customer associate, her name is Ambreia, was awesome. She helped resolve a lost FedEx shipment in the most professional and helpful way. She followed up with a necessary phone call after investigating the status of my lost order. What a pleasant experience working with your customer service department.

good but could improve on packing delicate products

i was gifted dishes from here which were poorly packed by C&B. many, if not most were shattered by the time they arrived at my place. luckily C&B has great customer service and I was sent out new plates every time. excellent quality products, they just need to improve on their packing.

Ordered a Lounge II custom couch in…

Ordered a Lounge II custom couch in December and fully paid for it. Due to Covid, we were told it would take 18 weeks for delivery. March- back ordered, delivery early April. Then mid April, then beginning of May, mid- May. Now beginning of June...Still waiting for delivery. One piece of the couch on the order states “processing” while everything else says in production?? WTH!! I have lost all of my patience.Update- I received my couch the end of June. One of the pieces was of my sectional was incorrectly ordered. The salesman ordered a “chair” vs an “armless chair”. So now I am pending another piece of my sectional that won’t be here until February 2022 per the estimated delivery time given. Delivery team was great. With my numerous calls to Crate and Barrel, they are attempting to make things right. I understand that this is a pandemic, but I think being upfront about production times and issues is better than selling furniture at such high prices and stringing the buyer along.

Good furniture, high prices

I like the furniture at Crate & Barrel. I'm not thrilled with the prices, though. It seems that everything here is a bit overpriced. Still, it is a fun place to shop and the salespeople at my local store are all friendly and helpful. Maybe it's the perfect place to pick out those special, one-of-a-kind items. Buy your more common household goods at a less expensive retailer.

Improved customer service

No customer service. May 23, I ordered a coffee grinder. June 8, I requested cancellation-- the order wasn't due to ship until later in June. I received an automatic reply they had received my email, then nothing. June 9, I received an email the shipment would be additionally delayed. I tried to call them-- hours on hold on the speaker phone, never connected. I waited patiently for a reply for the first cancellation request made through their website-- it never came. Then June 24, I get an email "my order has shipped." They ignore my requests-- I will ignore this store and never shop there again.Update: After this, a customer service representative emailed a very kind letter apologizing, explaining their situation and credited the entire order, no return required. They were very gracious about it.

Long Remedy for Defective Petrie Sofa

3rd update: Summer 2021. We were able to return the sofa after being rebuilt 2.5 times. C&B has been great. 2nd Update: Executive Customer Service never gave up on us. They replaced the back pillows and when they arrived it was amazing how much larger they were, and they fit perfectly. Now it looks like a Petrie sofa. CS was great. And tho it all took a very very long time, it was a thorough fix. Think long and hard about those buttons - they still are evil. But overall. Happy. Update: Executive Customer Service got in touch and reordered the sofa for us to arrive in August, which it did last week. Big improvement. However. Two items that make me want to toss up my hands. First, the delivery was front-door (hello, covid) which is fine. The sofa is not heavy. But we had to attach legs which should have been a no-brainer. However, one attachment (captive bolt or something) fell into the confines of the sofa when attaching one leg. Which meant taking the bottom fabric off and locating it and reattaching - easy but should not have been necessary. Second, the seat cushions are so much improved and buttons sewed on tight like nobody's business (alas a couple of them are standing up on their sides and pinching but no big deal, cause still tightly attached) but the back cushions? They look like a Sharpei puppy. Wrinkled where the fabric should be tight and They are the wrong size. There is a fist-sized gap between them - like I had as a kid before braces. We asked them to fully inspect the sofa before bringing it to us and they said they did do that. So I gotta ask - how do you miss a gap like that? I certainly can't account for that. We really appreciate that this one is solid and the cushions are fuller and sewn better but the back is a puzzle. We contacted the person at Exec CS and nothing back after a full week and a half. Zip. Nothing. And we sent photos. Simple remedy for this one would be just replacing back cushions w right size. But for now. Meh. Not feeling the love. Purchased a custom Petrie apartment sofa in January after careful consideration and spending time sitting on the sofa in the store. It was 2x the listed price on the website since custom. Was delivered almost on time during Covid shutdown which was pretty nice. But that's all the positive there is to say. The buttons were loose to begin with. Contact customer service and took 10 days to hear back, they requested pictures. Sent pictures, waiting another ten days to hear back to either hire our own person to come in and repair or wait till they were open again. Do they not read the news? No one was coming in to repair anything in April, anywhere. We told them we would opt to wait for them to open. But then more buttons came loose and stuffing started popping out from under the buttons and if you lifted the cushions, the bottom side was leaking disintegrated foam or something dusty in the spots where buttons were. Then it started creaking on the right side, loudly when getting up or sitting and now, just moving. It looks and sounds like an old sofa but it is barely 6 weeks old. The build is terrible. I have to use a pillow for lumbar support because it hurts my lower back. That never happened in the sofa we sat in at the store. I also need to use a blanket to sit on or risk getting randomly pinched by the loose buttons. The only thing going for this sofa is that the fabric is exactly as the sample which is nice. Customer service has stopped responding to our requests for help. My review on the Crate and Barrel site for this apartment sofa was approved and went live after 3 rejections (they have specific language required) and was up for three days and then disappeared without reason. After that I contacted them through the store where we purchased the sofa (closed and not reading emails was their reply) and through their social media pages (silence). Having shopped there for expensive custom furniture in the past and having had good experiences I did not expect this level of service, even with the shut-downs. Most other companies similar to CB have delays but are responsive. This is unacceptable in the extreme. I will not spend a penny more there unless they figure out how to make this right and that makes me sad because I really enjoyed shopping with them and have nothing but pretty good experiences. But this one is just too expensive to overlook. This sofa does not represent anything like what we expected from the sample we saw in the store. Edited to add: I don't understand why CB is ignoring every email to customer service. They approved, published and removed my review on their website and sadly, the responses on the website for current reviews are less than satisfying. At this point I am going out of my way to shop anywhere else but CB and will continue to do that given their lack of communication. Is the company going out of business?

This company USED to be good. I would buy housewares and accessories from them all the time and everything was fine but recently their quality has taken a sharp decline. I gave it three starts because a long time ago, I would have given it 5 but because of the way things have been going because of them...
