Disappointing experience

Disappointing experience. I needed to change the date of my hotel booking. I had left it too late to avoid being charged to change the booking, which was fine with me, I just wanted to move it. The Expedia agent was reluctant to rebook even though I told them repeatedly that I was ok to be penalised for changing the date, please go ahead and do it. In the end I could see they just wouldn't understand and so I asked them simply to cancel. I have now rebooked myself, but didn't do it through Expedia. The outcome for me is identical, however Expedia have lost the sale. It's very surprising they didn't want to, or were unable to help with this simple transaction, and missed out on a booking. Bizarre. Lack of training for agents? I now will probably not use Expedia again, as I don't feel they are able to manage simple issues.

Great Customer Service

Great customer service from Maria Lozanta but especially Robin Kumar. He was disconnected from our chat and immediately rang me up to explain the matter and proceed with my problem (not Expedia related). I thought this was thoughtful of Robin and he aided me with everything I needed to do. Thank you.

Again Zero score isnt available - resolved

Again Zero score isnt available. Ill save the waffle, avoid. Do not accept vouchers from them as they do not honor them. They are worthless. Just lost £100 voucher from them.Update - revised to 3 star - resolved now, pity it wasnt addressed during the first contact.

Credit where it is due.

Credit where it is due.After complaining about Expedia last Sunday 24/1/2021. Its only fair to compliment them, when they have swiftly and efficiently rectified their error and apologised accordingly. I must compliment an excellent employee Puneet R, who managed this from start to finish, he is a credit to Expedia and shows the rest of the team the standard to aspire to.

Update: after complaining here and getting in touch again, my issue was dealt with and resolved within two additional weeks. The telephone agents I dealt with appeared to be empowered to fix things and determined to get to a resolution - very different from my earlier experiences.Flights were cancelled by airline in May. Repeatedly requested a refund. Hapless, clueless, uncaring telephone staff (once you manage to get hold of one) are utterly unable to help. As a travel agent, they are excellent at taking your money but outrageously poor at dealing with any meaningful service request. I Always use Expedia

Always use Expedia when organising short breaks, never had a problem, needed to cancel an hotel recently and it was a breeze to do so, in my opinion they are fantastic at what they do....

They Came Good In The End

I posted a negative review about Expedia over two months ago. My May holiday in Europe, booked through Expedia, had been cancelled because of Covid. The hotel money was repaid within a few weeks but the air fares weren’t, and all attempts to contact Expedia proved to be a frustrating waste of time. I had been given unasked-for vouchers to compensate for the flights, but as I was unable to take a holiday because of the continuing pandemic these were totally useless. I resigned myself to losing the money I had paid for air fares (£160+) Anyway, today the money was paid into my bank account! I can get some extra treats at Christmas with it. So thank you very much Expedia. I lambasted you before and now I will give you credit where credit is due. I wish you had kept me better informed and that the Expedia employees I contacted could have done their jobs better, but I’VE GOT MY MONEY in the end!! I might even consider booking with Expedia again in non-pandemic times.

Expedia stepped up when Aer Lingus wouldnt!

I cannot fault Expedia. They stepped up when Aer Lingus wouldnt. We booked a trip Dublin to Dallas for October but with travel restrictions we werent allowed into the US. Aer Lingus told us the flight went ahead (I found out later they lied) & they said because they didnt cancel the flight (apparently) we werent entitled to a refund! Expedia stepped up right away & refunded us in full. Will definitely be booking with them again!!!

Helpful staff, kept us updated

Our trip to New York was cancelled due to covid 19- Expedia kept us informed the entire time with any updates, were always polite when I rang and processed our large refund quickly when it became clear the trip would not be able to go ahead.

So glad I booked my holiday with Expedia

I spent a lot of money on this year's holiday and it was cancelled at the last moment because of the pandemic. The hotels were refunded without any problem. It took a while, but eventually Expedia obtained a full refund from the airlines which meant a zero net cost for this experience. I will definitely use Expedia when planning my next holiday.

Gold membership very good on hotel bookings

I have used Expedia many times and as such have “Gold membership”. They have very competitive prices, do an NHS discount, points system is good and I have received perks at many hotels including upgrades, freebies etc due to Gold status. I have cancelled a few trips with them due to COVID, and received a cash refund with zero fuss within a couple of weeks, including a November trip to the Lux South Ari Atoll Maldives which I even cancelled after the Free Cancellation deadline due to the new UK lockdown (thanks Boris!). The only time I had issues was when I booked a flight with BA via Expedia (I think in 2019) and the flight was cancelled due to pilot strikes - there was lots of back and forth between Expedia and BA with each saying they weren’t able to sort a refund. However, never had an issue with hotel bookings.Overall, Expedia are competitively priced with a great loyalty programme, and the customer service with the Gold level of membership is really very good. I will only be booking hotels with Expedia during this COVID pandemic as they do fast cash refunds (at least with hotel bookings) and the customer service is easier to get hold of with online chat.

Cancelled holiday

We booked flights and a hotel to Orlando, Florida for October this year, a big family holiday with 9 of us going. The flights were cancelled first because of covid. I rang up in May and spoke to a lovely guy who said I was entitled to refund from Lufthansa which would take 7/8 weeks to return payment to credit card and he would cancel our hotel for us and get a refund in 30 days for the hotel. Got a full refund for all the flights and the hotel in the time he said it would take. Really happy and relieved as we were talking about £7200 here. Would book with them again.

Good experience

I had booked a holiday to Sri Lanka earlier in the year, due to depart in September. The flight was cancelled in August. I received a refund on the hotel payments almost immediately. I was informed that refund for flight cost would be made in 8 to 10 weeks. After 10 weeks I hadn’t received it. Contacted expedia via the online chat option and was informed that the airline had refunded them and received the refund within 48hrs. Overall I was pleased with the way expedia dealt with this. Although initially I had tried to contact them via a phone call every time I got through to someone I was immediately cut off after being on hold for about 45 mins. I then tried the online chat which I found to be excellent. It does start with robot text, but then switches to live chat. I was impressed with both of the agents I interacted with. I would use expedia in the future.

I had to cancel a hotel booking made last week (Friday) due to new lockdown. Got an automated response saying up to 30days to get a refund but received it 2 Days after cancellation so very happy.
